Loop engineering

Loop engineering is designing the system that prompts the agent instead of prompting it yourself. Addy Osmani named it on 7 June 2026, and is explicit that he did not invent the practice — he credits Peter Steinberger's formulation and Boris Cherny's account of running loops rather than prompting. The practice is real and the load-bearing part is the caveats, which the marketing versions drop: a loop running unattended is a loop making mistakes unattended, and “done” is a claim rather than proof.
